This product works perfectly. The mounting plate unsnaps from the base unit, so it is very easy to mount the GPS to it. It also works great for running the charger cord underneath the plate to help keep the wire secured. The base itself is not filled with "beans" as the term beanbag suggests. It actually feels more like a fine sand that will conform to the contours of any dash. The construction is pretty solid with a nylon material and stitching around the edges. The top is a stretchy polyester blend type of material that you would find on some kinds of stress balls. The bottom is a rubbery material that will grip pretty much any surface.
