Where To Buy TomTom XXL 530S 5-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

The TomTom 530s is a deceptively dumb super high tech GPS. Once it sets a course its that way only no matter what, unless you force it to select an alternate route. So, if you are driving in dense traffic and notice a traffic standstill ahead and you turn off to take an alternate route, to get GPS help you have to tap the screen to get back to the main menu to select the alternate route and then confirm the alternate selection before it will display anything useful. I'm accustomed to the auto recalculation provided by Garmin and Magellan, so despite its 5" screen, the usefulness of the technology is inconvenient in circumstances where you least want to pay attention to programming the unit. After using this product several days, I'm returning it to the seller and buying out a Magellan 1700 (7" display) instead.

Shop For TomTom XL 330 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

I got this as a gift. I was borrowing a Garmin 650 or something close but in the 6-series... This TOM TOM doesn't feel cheap like the Garmin. Its well designed and slim, not bulky like the Garmin. The display and graphics is of far better resolution than the Garmin. Even though it doesnt tell you the streets you can see it crystal clear on the display, and yes, it sort of drops you off where your destination is but all you have to do is LOOK and you will see it. Are you looking for a GPS to serve your drinks or something? The voices are also crystal clear. This is a far better unit than GARMIN. To me its the difference between eating at Olive Garden (garmin) and a fine dining establishment (Tom Tom). Olive Garden is all bulk and no refinement. Also Garmin would go many miles out of the way to find a location over 15 minutes away, I have not had this problem with the TomTom. The POI are also more thorough than Garmins. I cant emphasize how nice the graphics are on the Tom Toms. And its loaded with options of all kinds. I have not downloaded any maps but I have not needed to. It works perfect out of the package. Clarion MiND Mobile Internet Navigation Device (Black)

With recent price reduction, the Mind is competing in the household GPS range, and it competes very well.
*The GPS antenna is sensitive enough to pick up sigal even in middle of the room. The Navteq software provides an easy and familiar interface.
*The file explorer even displays chinese characters.
*With the October update, the real player now plays most types of avi, mp4, and rm files. Most files played smoothly, but a few has pixel update problems.
*The entire interface is fairly easy to use, with shortcut buttons for home, brightness, and volume.

There are a just few minor imperfections:
*Traffic is basically just a webpage, pretty useless.
*Youtube video stutters.
*The rims are too thick. It should instead house a 6" screen.

Overall, the Mind really offers a lot for the price. It competes with Q1 & Viliv at household GPS price.Get more detail about Clarion MiND Mobile Internet Navigation Device (Black).

Garmin nüvi 1370/1370T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic Review

Borrowed a pals Nuvi in USA and really liked it.
When I found out it had both Europe and USA loaded it became a must have.
Purchased in USA it has been so good to use both there and at home.
Slight disappointment that you cannot put a route in but I have a Zumo to do that anyway
Very happy with both my GarminsGet more detail about Garmin nüvi 1370/1370T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic.

Magellan RoadMate 1475T 4.7-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic Receiver Top Quality

Fantastic product! I am glad that I bought this unit as an upgrade from my Magellan Maestro 4250. I bought my Magellan RoadMate 1475T after reading reviews on Amazon.com for this product and was relieved to find it more reliable and improved in almost every way from my Magellan Maestro 4250. In a side-by-side comparison of the two (both with current Firmware and maps) on a two hour trip from Virginia through Washington, DC into Maryland, I found:

- The 1475T gave none of the occasionally incorrect turn recommendations that I have experienced with my 4250. At one point in my trip, the units gave conflicting recommendations at the same time (one said "turn left" and the other said "turn right"), I went with the 1475T and it was the correct course of action.

- The 1475T displays information in a more useful way from the 4250. There is less clutter and the map is displayed in a larger size on a similar sized screen. I found myself looking more and more at the 1475T (rather than the 4250) as the trip progressed.

- The 1475T provides an option to avoid toll roads where the 4250 has always seemed to favor them.

- Turn direction and other information spoken by the 1475T is given at more appropriate times than the 4250. The turn "ding" of the 4250 always seems to ring out at the last possible second causing me to miss turns in the past if not careful. The RoadMate gives a slightly earlier warning in this regard, but not too early.

- The 1475T did fewer course recalculations along the way.

- The 1475T was a great value at less than half the price I paid for my 4250 two years ago.

- The Traffic Link feature is a plus.

RoadMate 1475T negatives:

- The unit did not come with a case or AC charger adapter. You will need to fully charge the battery before upgrading to the latest Firmware version. I used my Maestro 4250 AC adapter and it worked just fine with the RoadMate 1475T. I ordered a leather case from Amazon.com and see excellent deals on adapters on Amazon as well.

- The female voice spoken by the RoadMate 1475T is slightly more mechanical and less natural sounding than the Magellan Maestro 4250, confirming other reviews on this webpage.

Before my purchase, I did in-store comparisons of the 1475T to Garmin and TomTom GPS units costing more. I found the 1475T screen navigation more intuitive and user friendly. Garmin units require street numbers when entering an address, while Magellan give a range to chose from. If you need to go to a location without a street address (National Park, military base with building numbers not street numbers), the Garmin will let you down -- a deal-breaker as far as I am concerned. Additionally, I found the map display of the Magellan more attractive and appealing than either Garmin or TomTom.

Garmin nüvi 5000 5.2-Inch Portable GPS Navigator This instant

Bought this Unit more than 3 months back. Overall unit was great & it has many features. The wide screen is very good & makes it easy to navigate. The unit has music player and SD card slot where I put my 4GB SD & it's equipped with FM transmitter so you can listen to music, alerts as well as navigation instructions on the car speakers along with unit's built-in double speakers at the back.

The unit has video-in port where I connected it with a back-up camera using Garmin A/V cable & it can be connected to DVD player. The unit also has POI alerts so you can just add points of radars or other things so you get sound & screen alerts 1km or 500m before reaching that location.

I give it 4 star on accuracy of GPS because the GPS receiver is not that sensing & you lost it easily when you are not having clear view to the sky.

Also 3 star for the Portability because this unit doesn't have built-in battery.

Overall 4 star Unit.Get more detail about Garmin nüvi 5000 5.2-Inch Portable GPS Navigator.

TomTom XL 330 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished) Immediately

I started out with the right product, but in switching back from the shopping cart to product review I was able to change the product without being aware. I ended up with the non-street-voice product. Although it was totally my fault I was disappointed. Also when I connected the product to my PC I was unable to update the map to the latest version of maps.Get more detail about TomTom XL 330 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished).

RightWay 400 GPS Navigator with 4.3-Inch Screen, Mulit-stop Route Optimizer and Gas Calculator Get it now!

Bought this GPS for $60. The good thing is that it can be easily unlocked into a general purpose WINCE machine. The RW400 comes with a multimedia menu out of the box, where you can read txt, watch a few kinds of videos and view pics in a ugly browser. But that's far from what it can actually do. Search "towince" and download the exe into any folder on the SD card that comes with your machine. Change the GPS path to where it is and run. Voila! The WINCE desktop appears! You can view every on-device directory, edit the registry, and launch various applications---it's even pre-loaded with pdf/doc/ppt softwares. Funny why they installed all those stuff if they are not willing to show them to the users.

The copilot software is OK. Smooth interface and quite accurate directions, but 3D display seems a little lagging when there're lots of objects on the map. Not so many POIs---can not find the local bloom store and a newly opened cinema. But you can load your own POI file. Anyway, nearly everything on this device is customizable, including changing GPS software.

Power drains VERY quickly though. Need a recharge every 2 hours if used heavily.

In short, this is a great GPS for geeks who have love of such gadgets. Price is unbeatable.Get more detail about RightWay 400 GPS Navigator with 4.3-Inch Screen, Mulit-stop Route Optimizer and Gas Calculator.

Nextar X4-T 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with MP3 Player Buy Now

frankly speaking this is my first time to use a Gps since i come to the usa four months ago..
My friend told me to buy one as i may need it to not to get lost in the huge country when i m driving ,
so i bought one from amazon, fortunatily that was Thanksgiving day and i got a discount for 60%
I thought it was great but the nightmare just started.
first i found the battary is useless:i charged it with correctly for the whole night and when i began to use it the night morning, the gps just standed for approximatily 20 minutes, yeah the screen is big, but is that the standard
stand-by time ?for 1\3 hour? i will still get lost in the huge country unless i only use it for jogging 1 mile away from my house.
as for the second the big screen is just stipud like its designer, when i click it once, it has no reaction(everytime), but whe i click it twice it just performance like crazy, sorry i m with a little anger, but i just can't afford it !it made for insane cramps.
don't buy it!and i will never buy staffs from AMAZON..
good luckbuddyGet more detail about Nextar X4-T 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with MP3 Player.

TomTom ONE 130-S 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Order Now

I'm on my second unit. TomTom replaced the first one because it would randomly turn on all by itself while just sitting on the counter. The replacement unit does this as well. Of course this will result in a dead battery, which is a pain in the butt when you're in a hurry and just want to grab the GPS and make a short run w/o bothering with cords, etc.

It happens once a week or so. Most people probably don't notice because they keep it in the car.

There are numerous complaints on the internet about various TomTom models that do the same thing and that TomTom has not provided any solution. Too bad they don't care more about customer satisfaction.Get more detail about TomTom ONE 130-S 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator.
