TrackStick Mini GPS Tracking System Order Now

I could not have been more disappointed with this product. The Trackstick mini can record 16,000 data points. I'm taking a week-long trip, so I set the unit to record 1 point per minute; default is 12 points per minute which wouldn't make it for a week before the memory filled up. As a test I took it on a 12 mile canoe trip. When I looked at the data, all the points it recorded were for the exact same location. It looked like I was in the exact same place the whole time. The trackstick was in my front pocket while in a canoe - no problem seeing GPS satellites in those conditions. I contacted trackstick support and this is what they told me: "Changing the record interval is not recommended since it will yield results exactly as you describe."
I amazed for such an expensive device ($290), they can't get simple feature like this to work. I'm going to return it.

Save Magellan Meridian External Power Cable with Cigarette Lighter Adapter

I purchased this so I could have power for my GPS on my snowmobile. If you don't have a cigarette plug on yours, go to your local electronics store and get yourself a bridge rectifier, cut the plug off of this and connect to the rectifier, tap into 12 VAC and ground on the sled for the other 2 connectors on the rectifier and you've got power. You do still need batteries because the voltage gets weak at idle, but there is plenty off idle. Get the bicycle mount for GPS to mount on handlebars. Been using this setup for a few years. Buying Kenwood DNX6140 6.1-Inch Wide Double-DIN In-Dash Nagivation with Built-in Bluetooth USB/iPod Direct Control/DVD Receiver

The Kenwood DNX6140 head unit is amazingly useful and easy to use. I looked a long time before ordering my first DNX6140 from Crutchfield, which I installed in our '05 Toyota Sienna. I was so impressed that I ordered a second unit (the DNX5140) from Amazon (at a better price) and installed it in my Toyota MR2. I liked the two of them so well that we installed another DNX6140 (also purchased from Amazon) in our VW Passat. The only problem now will be having to buy three map updates each year or two, since Garmin doesn't yet offer a multiple unit map upgrade.
Pluses include the proven Garmin navigation system, which I was already familiar with, and which influenced my decision to buy the Garmin over some other non-Garmin units. The audio system is excellent, with all the inputs, outputs, and adjustments you could possibly need. It sounds GREAT! I also installed Kenwoods CCD-2000 backup cameras on all three cars, and find their backup camera display on the head unit an excellent safety feature. Also, the backup screen comes up very quickly after starting your vehicle, which was not the case with a previous backup system I had installed. FM and AM performance is top notch. Tone settings are individually memorized for each function (DVD, FM, iPod, etc.) Oh, the iPod interface is excellent, this is actually my favorite feature. The DNX6140/5140 controls your iPod remotely so you can keep it safely stored out of sight. It includes all iPod functions, and displays album artwork on its screen.
Finally, the Parrot Bluetooth interface is excellent. It mutes audio and routes your call through your cars front speakers (adjustable,) and its steering wheel column mounted noise canceling microphone sends out good voice quality to your caller. It can be set to auto answer after a ring or two, and you can program in auto-dial numbers.
Note: The Kenwood DNX5140 is virtually identical to the 6140, except that it doesn't include the Parrot Bluetooth hands-free option, at a lower price. I put a DNX5140, with Kenwoods KCA-BT200 Bluetooth adapter in my Toyota MR2, and it turned my DNX5140 into a DNX6140 but for a lower price than the the 6140.
The Kenwood DNX6140/DNX5140 are both EXCELLENT units!Get more detail about Kenwood DNX6140 6.1-Inch Wide Double-DIN In-Dash Nagivation with Built-in Bluetooth USB/iPod Direct Control/DVD Receiver.

Garmin Colorado 400c Portable GPS System with Preloaded Coastal Waters Maps

I just got one of these for an over-water trip that I'm planning next week. This is my first GPS, so I didn't have any preset expectations. My requirements were reasonable waterproof performance (i.e., lives up to the claimed IPX7 standard), can operate continuously in all conditions for more than 12 hours and that the interface is easy to use.
Prior to purchasing this model, I did make myself aware of some pretty loudly-stated drawbacks, including the ill-fitting battery cover (more on that below), incidents involving water damage and the "battery hog" reputation (with some supporting tests). I also considered the GPSMAP 60 CSX, but figured that the screen wasn't quite large enough to be easily legible during vigorous activity - bigger is better!
Upon receipt, the first thing I did was inspect the water sealing - and I was somewhat disappointed at the design. It's probably cheap to manufacture, but I would have gone in a different direction. Basically the battery cover squeezes down on two o-rings; one around the batteries themselves and one around the SD card slot. I've seen others say that the cover fits better without the SD card slot o-ring, which is just about the dumbest performance-related design comment I've heard about this device. Without that o-ring, the device is no longer capable of being submerged.
The main problems with this design are two-fold: first, stress on the battery cover, which is the main attachment point for clips, mounting brackets etc. could deform the cover and thus pull it away from its pressured contact with the o-rings. This is bad, but not a disaster so long as the o-rings are in good condition. The second issue is that the main o-ring around the batteries is subjected to shearing every time the cover is removed; this is a recipe degradation over a very short period of time without preventative measures.
Clearly Garmin didn't think this through carefully. What I did was apply a fairly generous coating of silicone grease to the o-rings, improving their contact with the cover, and lubricating them so that the main one in particularly will slid against the battery cover with significantly less wear. I believe that this will extend the water resistance of this device substantially beyond the base design, and haven't been able to think of any other reasonable solutions. The top flap that protects the USB port is another problem area, and I don't have an answer there. Again, a problematic design choice.
Garmin has a "beta" case design here. If they redesigned it JUST A LITTLE bit, it would be absolutely phenomenal.
In any case, after greasing up the case, I hosed down the unit thoroughly, which is very abusive because it forces water into it, and then dunked it in a bucket (about 1.5' deep) for about 30 minutes. As you might guess from the 4-star rating, it still works great! However, it can't lock on to the satellites while under water, which is fine because I won't be using this to navigate whilst scuba diving.
With respect to the interface, the controller is actually fantastic - very easy to get around, works well with gloves etc. Touch screens just don't work in all environments, and this controller is better than buttons. If you could program the soft keys (maybe you can?) it'd be even better. However, the waypoint configuration capability on-device flat-out sucks. Why can't you enter lat-long data by number? That's b.s. You might be able to, but I haven't figured it out yet - and the manual is completely worthless. It's really too bad, because this is obviously a powerful device. It's like the engineers came up with a great interface, and then forgot to write down how it works.
Finally, to test battery life - and keep in mind that this is a recent buy - I put in some lithium batteries (before dunking it in the bucket!) and turned the screen on, WAAS - everything - and frequent redraws because I've been fooling around with it all day. So far, 16 hours later, I'm on 4-out-of-4 bars. I did load the newer software (3.4 for the device / 2.9 for the GPS chipset) so maybe that helps, I don't know. And maybe it just likes Lithium. The upshot is that this will work on one set of batteries for a long run of continuous operation.
I'll update this review if things turn out differently (e.g., if water gets in, battery life somehow changes for some reason etc.).
If Garmin would have done a better case design and actually included some documentation this would be a "must buy" product for people who need GPS.Get more detail about Garmin Colorado 400c Portable GPS System with Preloaded Coastal Waters Maps.

Garmin Nuvi 370 360 350 310 300 GPS Car Cradle Review

I needed a spare mount for my Garmin 360 to use in a rental car on trips. I don't want to cannibalize my dash mount on my daily driver so I got a Garmin car charger, suction cup mount, and this Garmin 360 Car Cradle from Amazon. They are genuine Garmin and are identical to the parts that come in the box with a new Garmin. This is important for the Car Cradle because it holds the charger connector and grips the GPS itself, and it has a quick-disconnect lever that lets you take it out of the car when you park. I've used this setup with a suction cup windshield mount on trips with no problems.
Be careful to get the Car Cradle that matches your exact model of Garmin. If your model isn't listed, it probably won't work with you GPS. So, search on the model number and be sure and get the right one the first time.Get more detail about Garmin Nuvi 370 360 350 310 300 GPS Car Cradle.
Kenwood KNA G510 - Navigation system Top Quality

I bought this along with my KVT-512 a while back and have been using it for a couple months. I refuse to use ANY other GPS system than Garmin because it is the only one that has not failed me. The install is so simple. When I opened the box and found a bunch of loose end wires I got scared but after looking closer I saw how easy it would be. It took about 45 minutes from the the time I opened the box to the time I was testing it out. The hardest part was finding a place to put the navigation unit as I wanted it to be completely hidden away. I ran the antenna under the dash panel as close to the front of the windshield as I could so that nobody would be able to tell I had GPS. The unit is very responsive and I have no signal problems under there. The navigation screen is slightly lower resolution than that of the portable units but it is very easy to read and customizable. Start up time is great and the price of this unit is pretty good in my opinion. So just to sum it up and maybe add a few things:
Pros:
Easy to install
Seamless integration
Very responsive
Good price
Garmin is the best navigation product I have ever used
Cons:
Slightly lower resolution screen (may be my head unit)
Overall I am very very impressed with this product. I use it all the time and it rarely has any issues navigating me to my destination, only on extremely remote and brand new roads.Get more detail about Kenwood KNA G510 - Navigation system.

GiSTEQ TripBook TB-100 GS Mileage Logger This instant

I bought it with high hopes.
The concept is simplicity itself: plug it in your car, then plug it in your computer. Once the software shows you the trips and stops you've made in Google Maps, all you need to do is write down if there was a business purpose for the trip so you can later justify to the IRS your mileage deductions. Exactly what I needed.
However I could never make its software work properly with my Vista 64 laptop. When downloading data into computer, it frequently locked up, which resulted in lost information (trips = $). I contacted support twice, and was able to promptly talk to someone who then emailed me drivers and updates, to no avail. Still the same issues, and in fact worse after the last update.
So now I don't use it anymore, resorting instead to the old ways of data keeping: pen and paper. I wish it worked, or that I had a XP computer to try it on - I'll bet it would work.
In fact, if you are interested in this product and have a XP computer, I have an almost new unit here in the office looking for a new home (or car).Get more detail about GiSTEQ TripBook TB-100 GS Mileage Logger.
Kenwood DNX9960 eXcelon In-Dash 2-DIN AV Navigation System Immediately

I had high hopes for the successor to the most excellent DNX9140 (which I own in my pick-up truck). The DNX9960's new UI is quite slick, and it works really well. Kenwood is shooting for an iPhone-like UI on the main screen. They did a decent job with it. Other than that, the basic features and functions of the stereo, iPod integration, Bluetooth, and navigation system are all identical to the aforementioned 9140...
Except: The "free" NAVTEQ traffic add-on isn't free. It comes with a catch: advertisements. On the main navigation screen, you will get pop-up ads for local businesses. They are, in my opinion, very tedious, distracting, and bothersome. And there's no way to disable them other than to disable NAVTEQ.
Consider this point very carefully before purchasing this unit. I really think Kenwood screwed the pooch with this move, and had I known this before hand, I'd have just purchased another 9140 for my car. Caveat Emptor, as the saying goes...Get more detail about Kenwood DNX9960 eXcelon In-Dash 2-DIN AV Navigation System.

Lowrance iFinder Expedition C GPS Best Quality

Bottom line: Steer clear if you expect a piece of equipment that lasts more than three years.
I'd have given this a four-star rating up until a month ago. That's when it passed its third anniversary of use. And stopped finding its location. It'll operate absolutely normally in every regard; displaying maps, finding satellites and positioning them in the sky; compass works; barometer works; in short it will do everything except its primary function.
Lowrance customer service has been notably unresponsive except to finally tell me that they want $150 just to look at it.
Some internet surfing reveals that this is an epidemic with this model and similar Lowrance models. They simply go belly-up in this fashion after three years. My personal suspicion, unsubstantiated in any way, is that they are programmed to cease their primary function after three years since turn-on.
Anyway, now I have to get another GPS for hunting, and it won't be a Lowrance.Get more detail about Lowrance iFinder Expedition C GPS.
Zoombak ZMBK100 Advanced GPS Dog Locator Get it now!

You could pretty much copy and paste anybody else's review into this one. I was never able to get connected. I tried updating the software for 2 days. Had it sitting on top of a post in the middle of a metropolitan suburb, with clear view to the sky--nothing. Was really hoping this would work. Wanted to buy at least 1 more if it even worked a little, which it didn't. I had also purchased a fanatic digital device, which I can at least communicate with.....but that's another story.
Customer service: same response here--polite, overseas help from somewhere with scripted responses.
Kudos to Zoombak on their marketing, tractor-beams, sucked me right in.....only to disappoint. Not only that, there is no way to determine whether there are actual differences in the models are just the accessories they ship with the unit. Which, is vague at best, and caused me to unnecessarily purchase the another car installation kit--which was returned with the defective device.
Would I recommend? After doing more research AFTER purchasing the device, I would say the bulk of indviduals seem to be disappointed with Zoombak in some way, shape or fashion. So, no, I wouldn't recommend this product at this time. I will however follow the reviews, and if they significantly improve, may have another go at it.
I'm considering the Escort Entourage PS:

Lowest Price Garmin zumo 220 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

The Zumo is a great motorcycle GPS but it does have its flaws.
The first thing you'll notice is that the Zumo doesn't come with a printed users guide. Garmin expects you to download the PDF version. It was easy to find on-line and this approach is fine since we're all supposed to be going green. What ships in box is a quick start guide. The web site says "installation instructions" are included but this is not accurate. The only installation information is contained in the quick start guide. It's pretty basic but more than adequate unless you want to attempt installing the wiring harness. If you plan on using the wiring harness you need to know how to tap into the electrical on your bike and handle all of the cable routing yourself or take it to a pro for assistance. (One note on the wiring harness: the cable doesn't include anything to cover the USB/power connector so if you install the harness and don't have the GPS unit plugged in the end of the power adapter is fully exposed to the elements.)
The second thing you'll notice is the device doesn't come with a wall charger. There is the permanent wiring harness and a car charger but they didn't include a wall charger. With a battery life of almost 8 hours I planned on just charging the unit at night and skipping the wiring harness since nearly all of my rides are under 8 hours. For the cost of the unit I was disappointed that I had to scavenge to find a power charger.
The battery life provided on Garmin's website states "up to 8 hours". I think this is a bit of a stretch. If you turn the volume off, turn the screen brightness down to under 50% (the default), and turn off Bluetooth you can get close to 8 hours. When riding with voice prompts, screen brightness at 80 to 90 (on a sunny day) and Bluetooth enabled I was able to get just over 5 hours of battery life. Still very respectable and more than most motorcyclists need for a single day.
One of the nicest features of the Zumo 220 is the ability to plan your routes on your PC and load them on to the GPS unit using Garmin City Navigator. It's easy to install but the unlock code, which is needed to use the maps, comes on a non descript yellow sheet that looks like something you should simply ignore or throw away. You need this special yellow sheet so be careful or you'll be explaining to your wife why you're digging through the garbage! Once installed and unlocked City Navigator is great. It's easy to use and simple to transfer routes to and from the GPS unit.
The GPS unit itself is a nice size but a little thick. If you're thinking you'll just throw this unit into your back pocket you can but there are two issues. First the unit is thicker than you expect and you will be aware of the bulge in your back pocket - it's not a petite unit. Second there is no power lock and it's very easy to turn the unit on when inserting the unit into your pocket or when moving around. It would have been better to have some sort of power button lock. I've resorted to removing the battery from its waterproof compartment, which is easy and quick to do.
The user interface is very intuitive and most of the data fields presented on main page can be customized, even when in motion. The keyboard is easy to use and has two modes that basically change the size of the buttons on the screen to make it easier to use when wearing gloves.
One nice feature is the fuel tank alert. Just enter the total mileage you expect to get from a tank of fuel and how many miles before empty that you want warnings and the unit keeps track of everything. Interesting note: the unit has multiple modes like driving, motorcycling, scooter etc. The only mode that fuel tank alerts work is when in motorcycle mode.
Another solid feature of the unit is if you do switch between a motorcycle and a car the Zumo 220 remembers your preferences for the route types of each mode. This makes it nice not having to reprogram anything when going between modes.
I have encountered a few issues with custom voices downloaded from the Garmin Garage. On at least one of the custom voices the unit seems to get confused and reboots on occasion. Changing back to the preinstalled voices seems to have fixed this quirky problem.
I have a big v-twin and my bike has a healthy dose of vibrations, especially when accelerating or using engine braking. The Zumo 220 is rugged enough to handle the vibrations with ease and the RAM mounts that came with the unit work great. One note on the u-bar attachment for the handlebar: If you have larger handlebars than 1 inch you're going to need to run out to your local hardware store to get a larger u-bar. If you've got a 7/8" - 1", like most people, you'll be fine.
Overall the Zumo 220 is a high quality unit that's easy to use, rugged and ready to hit the road. Just plan on doing a little extra shopping for things that Garmin should have included, especially given the high price point of this unit.Get more detail about Garmin zumo 220 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator.

The ball stud easily slides off of its own mount plate but I just pop the Nuvi off of its mount.Get more detail about ARKON APGN-VSM Vehicle Specific Mount Adapter Plate Connects 4 Hole AMPS VSM to Garmin Nuvi 17mm.

Shop For DeLorme AF-8085-201 Earthmate PN Series 12 Volt Power Cable

I purchased a replacement 12V power cable after accidentally melting the one that came with the DeLorme AG-8097-000 Earthmate PN Series Power Kit (completely my fault... don't ask). It works just as well as the original one, which is OK but not great (mainly problems with the GPS and the battery, not this adapter). It could also be used as a secondary charger to be kept in a second vehicle.
Note that this adapter will NOT recharge non-Delorme rechargeable batteries in-unit. You have to get the "CR-V3 LI-ION Approved Battery" from Delorme or in the Power Kit for in-unit recharging. This fact is well-documented and is a popular topic in the Delorme forums.
The recharge rate is extremely slow (again, problem with the GPS and battery). During an all-day geocaching trip with long drive times (about 3 hours total charging time) between multiple stops and long walking times during stops (about 6 hours walking/non-charging time), the charger couldn't keep up and I had to switch to alkaline.
But even if you don't have the "special" battery, this product is still functional. The unit works entirely off of external power while plugged in, so you aren't burning through expensive and landfill-clogging disposables. If want your receiver on while driving between geocaches or on the way to the trailhead, or want to extend battery life on your ATV equipped with a 12V power-point, this product can help.
The main problem I have with this product, though, is that it turns out that I didn't need to buy it. The GPS receiver will charge off the USB Data Transfer cable that came with the unit (strangely, Amazon does not sell this; you have to purchase a replacement or second cable directly from Delorme for $12.95 + $7 shipping). That cable plugged into my Scosche Dual USB Car Charger means I can charge my cell phone and my PN-40 from only one 12V power point. This is a huge bonus in my wife's vehicle where only one power point is reachable from the dash area.
Pros:
- Recharges the "CR-V3 LI-ION Approved Battery" in the GPS unit.
- Extends the life of any battery (even non-rechargeable).
Cons:
- Expensive for what you get.
- Yet another charger to have in your vehicle. A 12V-USB adapter used with a Data cable is better.
- Does not recharge non-Delorme rechargeable batteries (problem with GPS, not this product)Get more detail about DeLorme AF-8085-201 Earthmate PN Series 12 Volt Power Cable.
Garmin 010-10987-01 Speech Recognition Remote

I too love the voice activation on the 885T, and I also lost the remote when moving it to another car. Unfortunately, no instructions on how to activate the 2nd remote were included in the package. In regards to S. Jamieson's 1 star review, I did a quick search on Garmin's website and found out how to activate the remote:
To activate a second ASR remote with your 8xx unit:
1. Power the device on
2. Touch Tool
3. Touch Settings
4. Touch System
5. Touch the down arrow
6. Touch Add or Change next to Remote
7. Touch Activate New Remote
8. Press a button on the ASR remote
9. Touch Ok
10. Touch and hold the Back button to return to the main menu
The instructions above worked like a charm.
My only complaint is the inability to customize the main map screen with a compass, and miles to destination. If anyone knows how to do that, please share!

Car Vent Mount for Garmin Nuvi 750 760 770 650 660 670 680 200 200W 250 250W 260 270 350 360 370 GPS Top Quality

The description on this mount would be more accurate if it just stated that it was a car vent mount for the Garmon Nuvi Series. I was charged with buying a Nuvi 255W and a vent mount for a gift. I took a chance on this one as the model I bought was not listed in the description. Having never laid eyes on the items in the Nuvi package, I just couldn't figure out how the GPS was supported this "ball on a clip" but every mount for the Nuvi had this ball. I finally found a site with a picture of the cradle that comes with the Nuvi. The ah ha moment. The cradles that come with the Nuvi support this "ball". I now have both in my posession and have determined that this product will work with the Nuvi 255W. It will probably also work with any GPS in the Nuvi series.Get more detail about Car Vent Mount for Garmin Nuvi 750 760 770 650 660 670 680 200 200W 250 250W 260 270 350 360 370 GPS.

OnPar Golf Touchscreen GPS Immediately

I have tried a total of 4 golf GPS this past season in the hopes of finding the "Right" one. Of the four units I put to the test, it came down to two. The Sonocaddie V300 and the OnPar. The other two units were the Callaway UPro and Skycaddie SG5. I will start off by stating why these two units did not make it into my final comparison. The UPro was very nice however in order to maximize its potential, you had to pay $5.00 for each course in the Pro Mode. This enabled the GPS to display the actual picture of the hole itself. It is very cool, very cool however I play approximately 20-35 different courses every season. I would have to pay an additional $100 to $175 for all my courses, assuming they were all available. I did not like the additional cost aspect. Same goes for the Skycaddie SG5. You had to pay an additional $50 per year to utilize this system. That's $50 a year, every year. If you do not pay the $50 annual fee, it renders your unit useless. None of the courses will be available for use. This is not very good at all if you plan on using this device for a couple or even a few years and then decide you no longer want to pay the $50 annual fee. All your courses you had downloaded currently and in prior years, puff gone. WTF is that??? Not my cup of tee. (Pun intended).
Now on to the OnPar. Most of the bad reviews here and at other sites were very early reviews, soon after the product was released. They simply had very, very little golf courses available for download. Only a handful were mapped. OnPar has been hard at work adding approximately 1000 courses every month since its initial release. Now they have an unbelievable amount of courses available. The system itself has gone through a couple of firmware updates since its release. I must say that the time I have spent with this device has been nothing short of amazing. The system is incredibly stable and it has a ton of courses mapped. Every course I play with the exception of one is available. I requested this course to be added and per OnPar, once you register your product, you will have one request for your home course they will map within 1-2 weeks. That is pretty solid.
This GPS is just incredible. All the courses available are free, nothing, nada when you register. Thank God for that! Once you purchase this unit, that is it. No additional cost. The price of this GPS has come down considerably since its release as well. The early adopters payed $479 for this unit. You can now get this unit from $399 via OnPar website which includes a free belt clip, car charger and temporary cart mount. Very good deal. You can also get just the unit for anywhere between $350-370 on Amazon. I personally purchased mine on EBay for $277.00 brand new in its original packaging, never been used. Now that was too good a deal to pass up. Now you know why the two other devices I mentioned above were not even close economically speaking.
As far as the performance goes, it works just as advertised. It acquires the satellites very quickly and maintains its lock. The battery life is great lasting a full two rounds before it needs charging. The unit itself is very easy to see in all types of light especially direct sunlight. It has a light sensor built in that automatically adjusts to current light conditions. Very cool. The touchscreen is sensitive but not overly sensitive. You can use your finger, a tee or golf pencil to mark your points. You can use your hand even with a golf glove on. It is very easy to mark this device to see the yardages to bunkers, lakes, creeks, other various hazards so you can avoid them. You will always see your remaining distance no matter where you are. It continually updates your position and yardage. This device will hold up to 300 courses. Yes, 300!! That is way cool!! It will track your shots which is very easy to do and keep your critical statistics. After a few rounds with this device, it will even learn your distances you hit with every club and then recommend a club for every instance. How cool is that!! There are many more features to this unit, but I have covered the main points. Everything, and I mean everything has worked flawlessly. I bet if the early adopters would review this product now, they would have a totally different opinion and rate this product much, much higher. If Amazon would allow more stars, I would give it the max.
The only criticism I can give it is as follows. I wish this unit displayed predetermined way points on each of the courses. Trust me this is just a nitpick. All you have to do is just touch the front of a bunker for example to get that yardage. Touch the back of the bunker to get the carry yardage. It would just be nice to have some of these already listed on the map. Other than that very little nitpick, there is no doubt I have found the "Right" Golf GPS.

Lowepro 4.3-Inch Navi Sleeve GPS Carrying Case (Black) Best Quality

Got for my Garmin nuvi, and I must say I am very happy with it. It is a perfect fit...snug but not too small. It seems very well made and it very sturdy, with a good bit of padding and let still quite slim. Perfect to fit in your car console, glove box , briefcase or handbag.
My only issue, which kept it from 5 stars, is the rather small cloth. A bit longer would have made it more versatile, but it is a fairly minor issue. Get more detail about Lowepro 4.3-Inch Navi Sleeve GPS Carrying Case (Black).
Clarion NX500 6.5" In-Dash Motorized Touchscreen DVD/CD/MP3/USB Receiver, Built-in Navigation and Bluetooth Get it now!

After about 2 weeks of browsing and looking for the right head unit for my 2009 Ford Escape, I decided the Clarion NX500 would be perfect. As compared to other units in its class, the Clarion NX500 has many more features. Including navigation, Satellite radio, HD radio, full iPhone/iPod interface and compatibility, Bluetooth calling/audio/video support, rear view camera support, as well as DVD and auxiliary in. The unit also supports addons and is just all around VERY adaptable to your lifestyle.
The navigation is perfect! I don't have a single negative thing to say about it, although on the plus side, it will calculate any local route in under a second (2 seconds tops). I even calculated a route from mid-Michigan to Hollywood blvd and put it side by side with a Garmin 765T, NX500 - 26 seconds, Garmin 765T - 1.5 minutes. The speed of calculation is due to a very large navigation processor within the NX500.
I was able to sync my iPhone to this unit very quickly. Playing Bluetooth audio was a breeze.
The video lockout is easily bypassed by connecting a PAC TR7 Universal. Trigger Module [...] contains a nice guide to how its done.
Video comes out clear, personally, I don't see any problems with glare, although I do have a slight tint on my rear windows.
All and all, this is a great unit and I would suggest it to anyone!Get more detail about Clarion NX500 6.5" In-Dash Motorized Touchscreen DVD/CD/MP3/USB Receiver, Built-in Navigation and Bluetooth.

ShieldZone invisibleSHIELD, LCD Screen Protection for the Garmin GPS Map 60 CSx Hand Held GPS Unit Buy Now

DO NOT buy the InvisibleSHIELD for ANY reason for any of your devices/phones! The spray you use to install this product got under the touchscreen on my HTC Touch Pro and destroyed it! When I contacted ZAGG (the makers of this product) about this issue, they said their warranty only covers the InvisibleSHIELD itself and refused to pay to have my phone repaired or replaced!
Their "Customer Service" is also some of the worst I have ever seen! I had to repeatedly call and email them to get an answer out of them. It took me well over a month to finally get a hold of someone just so they could tell me they would not replace my phone :(
I would steer clear of this product and get something that won't potentially destroy your phone - stay as far away from the ZAGG company (and all of their products) as possible!Get more detail about ShieldZone invisibleSHIELD, LCD Screen Protection for the Garmin GPS Map 60 CSx Hand Held GPS Unit.

Garmin Rino 110 Handheld GPS Navigator and 2-Way Radio Decide Now

The unit is quite functional, though when used in a rugged wooded setting, such as hunting, the reception and transmission capabilities are lacking. I was recently elk hunting and the other members in the group had the fancier Garmin Rhino GPS units, which significantly outperformed the Rhino 110. I bought on price point, thinking that I might lose out on some of the bells and whistles of the other higher end units that I wouldn't ultimately need, but in the end the 110 didn't have the horsepower and resulted in a number of instances where I couldn't communicate with the other group members and I was separated by less than two miles in a relatively unobstructed environment.Get more detail about Garmin Rino 110 Handheld GPS Navigator and 2-Way Radio.
Suunto Altimax Wrist-Top Computer Watch with Altimeter and Barometer Right now

I liked the watch. Some may think it's a little big but I didn't think it was too bad. My complaint is the wrist band. It isn't made very well and the band pops out of the holder. It got really annoying so I had to send it back. Went with a casio and am very happy.Get more detail about Suunto Altimax Wrist-Top Computer Watch with Altimeter and Barometer.

Lowest Price Garmin nüvi 260 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

My first GPS unit was a TomTom One and I really liked it. Not everything about it was perfect, but it was very easy to use. Well, it got stolen and my brother happen to be moving overseas so he gave me his Garmin Nuvi 260.
In my opinion, it's not very intuitive. I recently used it on a trip cross country. I would program in our destination, let the device program our route which was pretty much I-40 west the entire way, and look to see our approximate arrival time. Instead of leaving the device plugged in because it already had a full battery charge, I would shut off the device. After a few hours of driving, I'd turn the device back on to find out how much further we had to travel and it would lose the programmed destination every time even though the battery still showed a full charge. So I'd either have to leave the device on or reprogram the destination each and every time. My TomTom One would keep the route stored until I cleared it out. 1 star
A lot of the times it was pretty quick to pick up satellites and pinpoint our location. It would also process routes pretty quickly as well. There were a few occasion where the device knew where we were but had no idea in which direction I was driving so the little car just sort of looked lost. 4 stars
Ease of use or intuitiveness. If you've never had a GPS unit before, I suppose this one would be very easy to learn and use. However, having owned a TomTom in the past, TomTom's ease of use and intuitiveness are head and shoulders above this unit. I can't speak for other Garmin's because this is the only one I've owned. 3 stars
Battery life. I left this on at one point and got what I thought was a decent amount of time out of the battery. I can't remember the exact length of time, but I think it was somewhere around a couple of hours. For a portable device, if you turn it off to save juice then turn it back on, your destination will be lost....or at least it was on mine.
Yes...I've done all the updates that are available.
Overall, I'm glad I didn't spend my own money on this unit. There have been several times while using it to navigate through LA that I've wanted to throw it out the window. Even though I follow its directions, in some cases after each turn it will say "recalculating". What?!?!? It gets us from point A to point B pretty accurately. One thing I do love is the fact that it tells you whether your address destination is on the right or the left side of the road....something my TomTom did not do.
I don't think I'd recommend this to a friend as I'm sure there are better units out there in the same price range.Get more detail about Garmin nüvi 260 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator.

I absolutely love the TomTom GPS and prefer their products to Garmin. Cheap Navigon 2100 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Pros: Decent navigator with voice prompts and a reasonable price.
Cons: Map updates may not fit in the installed memory card and no spec for larger cards. No useful tech support.
I have had this unit for two years. It is an adequate performer with some quirks in routing, but I have no experience with other units to compare routing methods. I bought a three year map update from Amazon. The promised "quarterly" updates have been sporadic. I recently received a notice of a new map update. When I tried to load the map, the Navigon software told me my 2 GB SD card was too small to hold the map and I should get a 4 GB card. Researching SD cards showed that 4GB cards are now SDHC. I went to Navigon web support and could find no spec indicating that the 2100 could use SDHC. The only way to contact Navigon is by email from their site - there is no contact phone. The web site promises a reply in 24 to 48 hours. I sent an email asking for confirmation of the type of SD card to use. That was 5 days ago.Get more detail about Navigon 2100 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator.
