This dvd player is not all it is cracked up to be, sure it plays DVDs and MP3's but the on screen navigation is absolutely awful. The overall function is overly complicated, display is crowded and hard to read, (especially while driving), I mean isn't this thing supposed to go in your CAR?? the touch buttons on the screen are huge, UGLY, and just get superimposed on top of your music list, DVD, or whatever. instead of being able to touch a song in a list to play, you have to touch the screen to activate the buttons, touch it a second time to hit the desired command, (and if you are lucky the song you want to hear isn't obscured by the enormous buttons). Another obvious thing wrong with this player is the resume feature for music is painfully bad, It will pick up at the beginning of the last track playing every time you start the car. Really annoying if you have a few quick errands and have to hear the same song over and over. combine this with the headache just to change the song via touchscreen, and you get a perfect storm of worthless. And to top it all off, as the review before me says, the Navigation is an "OPTIONAL" feature you can add (and find a place to hide a seperate receiver sized box) for a mere [...] bucks.

This GPS was made in 2007 but does not allow many street numbers present for many years. It misidentifies roads and sometimes routes you incorrectly. It tells you to take nonexistent exits and turns. It has frequent software errors that require restarts only possible by cutting all power. Update 1/3/09 Audiovox (Jensen) responded to my complaint as follows: There are no map updates available yet and we do not have a precise release date at this time. The best thing to do would be to check the Audiovox web site from time to time for availability and cost.

This would be a good thing except it is in the fine print of their products and their customer support email address that their website list is the wrong address. I had to get through to their customer service by posting a bad review on their website. By the time they responded my unit was beyond the 30 day limit and they refused to give me the update. This is a bad business practice. After a lot of research I settled on the c530 for the price. I'm terrible with directions, and get lost a lot so this was beginning to be a necessary purchase. This GPS is great!

The screen is easy to see, and the auto-adjust mode is really helpful. This GPS has an amazingly long battery life - mine has been going strong for over 5 hours. I haven't tried updating the maps, and since I bought a refurbished unit some maps were outdated, but in general I haven't had any trouble with it.

Cheapest Cobra GPSM 4000 Nav One Mobile Navigator

I purchased this unit as an upgrade to the Garmin StreetPilot c340 and I couldn't be happier! There were two reasons why I decided to upgrade to Cobra. First, when taking a trip into New York City, the Garmin went completely haywire telling me to make a left turn over and over, therefore making it useless in cities. Second, on that same trip I was meeting my sister who drove in using her old Cobra GPS and she had no problem reaching our destination. Since purchasing the Cobra I've made several trips into the city and it never loses it's signal or gives me incorrect directions.

There are some minor issues but I don't consider them a huge deal. It simply may have something to do with updating the unit. Twice it took me down streets that were dead ends. The streets were intended to be extended but construction was never completed. The only other problem I had was when I was in the city and it was due to the me choosing the wrong option. It kept instructing me to take a major highway vs. the city streets. I finally realized that I had programmed the GPS to use major highways instead of local roads. Now I know to choose local roads while driving in cities. This unit has a lot of options, such as time of arrival and/or time left to your destination. It finds business' easily, especially compared to the Garmin, and you can choose to have certain locations displayed on the map, such as restaurants, gas stations, etc. These options are great for long trips. I bought the NS-NAV01 gps from bestbuy because the guy at the store told me I can download Mexico's maps from NavTeq, but for my surprise NavTeq web pages doesn't list this brand.

Navteq provides the maps and Insignia translates them to their devices, but they are not interested in providing maps for other countries, or giving a good support for their US maps. The answer from Insignia: "Our products are exclusively sold in the USA". Yes, but they are made for traveling!
