Where To Buy Garmin 010-11230-01 3.5-Inch Nuvi Travel Pack

This has all the things you need that weren't included with the Nuvi - case, electical charger & other things. Great value, but Garmin really should include a case & electrical charger with the Nuvi.Get more detail about Garmin 010-11230-01 3.5-Inch Nuvi Travel Pack.

Buying Garmin Bike mount, quick release, quarter turn

These are the exact same mounts that came with my Edge 500. However, there are TWO complete sets of mounts in each package. The description should have said this because I ordered 5 mounts and ended up with 10. Even Garmin's site shows a photo of one set not two. Now if I could only order an Omega Speedmaster and get 2 for the price of one life would be sweet!Get more detail about Garmin Bike mount, quick release, quarter turn.

Save Car Windshield Flexible Gooseneck Mount for TomTom GO 520 520 720 730 920 930 920T 930T GPS

I recently got the TomTom 730 and the suction cup kept falling off the windshield. Like all the others said, this is very stiff, but is made to a perfect length and doesn't come off the windshield. I've had this for several weeks now, not once has it come off or moved!! It's easy to reach when driving and makes the tomtom much easier to use! I read the reviews, and I'm in line with everyone else, this works great for the tomtom!!Get more detail about Car Windshield Flexible Gooseneck Mount for TomTom GO 520 520 720 730 920 930 920T 930T GPS.

Lowest Price Garmin nuvi 1490T 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with nuMaps Lifetime

I received the 1490T on Tuesday evening and downloaded all the updates and new maps. I paired it with my Bluetooth phone and left it to charge overnight. On Wednesday we left Central Florida for the Panhandle and the 1490T worked flawlessly - this GPS was really terrific and we played with most every function. I turned it off and put it in the center console to keep it safe and left it overnight. Got it out and plugged it in the next morning and the screen flashed white then the Garmin name appeared - that is where it sits today. YES, I tried resetting the unit, turned it off and on and with and without the power adapter plugged in. Nothing works - it comes on and flashes a white screen and then the word "garmin" on the screen and it sits there. We made the trip back home without this amazing GPS and were just totally dissappointed. It was so nuch fun using it going up..
This was my 2nd Garmin in 1 week to go bad. I purchased a 265WT last week but the bluetooth would shut the gps down when it engaged. I obtained a RMA from Amazon as I decided to just go ahead and jump up to the latest feature rich unit (the 1490T). I previouslly owned a Magellan Crossover for the past 4 years and it is still running great but I wanted to upgrade and add the bluetooth. It appears that even though Garmin is gaining market share, they have sacrificed their quality to hold profits. I am going to try again with another 1490T as we did really love it but we are concerned over the Garmin GPS quality.
UPDATE - 06-02-2010
I received an email from Garmin support who offered the following (Thank you for contacting Garmin International, I am sorry to hear that this has happened. Your GPS will require warranty service. Please return your device to the address below ---- Once we receive your GPS Unit and check it into the system, you will receive it back in approximately 10 - 14 days. For most units, the device will be exchanged for a newly overhauled device)

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! Ship, at my cost to Garmin, wait 10-14 days and get an "overhauled" unit back. After only 5 hours of use on a brand new unit??????????? I'm not a happy camper with Garmin!

NOW - Amazon on the other hand emailed me a return shipping label to send my dead gps back to them and they sent me a brand new NUVI 1490T (overnight) at the same time. AS I am writing this I am already updating my new unit. Amazon is GREAT - Garmin's customer service policy sucks.. (and this was over the Memorial day weekend - WOW)Get more detail about Garmin nuvi 1490T 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with nuMaps Lifetime.

SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger unit, Orange/Black Right now

I purchased the SPOT 1 last Spring, and started using it right away. We used it at the house, and it worked great! I almost pinpointed my exact location in my house. Then we tried to use it while hiking.......not so good.

The first hike we used it on was a qucik little hike down to the Lewis river in SW Washington. Once we got to the river bank I turned it on and sent an "OK" message. None of the contacts on my list received it. I thought I should have let it transmit longer (I let it go for about 10 min). So, on our next hike near Silver Star Mountain, I tried again. This time giving it about 15 min of transmit time without moving it. Still.....no one got the message. On our third attempt to use the SPOT, my wife and I hiked up to the top of Silver Star Mountain in SW Washington. Once we got to the top at (about 4,300 feet), I tried again. This time I left it transmitting for 20 min, sitting up on a rock, on a clear day, and without a tree in sight. Still, NOTHING!

After this last attempt, I called spot and told them I thought I had a defective unit. They had me test it right then and there from home, and guess what...it worked great! I got my location in just a couple of min. The guy on the phone told me to try everything I had been doing, and that my unit was okay. So, I think my spot will be going on ebay.

When I was looking at SPOT, I also looked at the ACR line of emergency satellite beacons. I chose SPOT due to it's price compared to ACR. I work in the maritime industry, and am very familiar with ACR products...they are solid and reliable! But, at the time they did not offer the "I'm okay & tracking function" as SPOT did, so I went the cheap way......and got what I paid for. Not to mention the $100 a year subscription fee.

I can't say SPOT is no good, because there are many wonderful success stories. All I know is that it has not worked for me in the wilderness, and I do not have faith in it when I'm out hiking/camping. So, peace of mind being one of the main attractions, I think I'm going to go with the more expensive ACR. They have just introduced their own "I'm okay/tracking service" now, for about $60 a month.

As far as SPOT 2, they just cut some weight, and moved the buttons around. The electronics are the same.Get more detail about SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger unit, Orange/Black.

Garmin Astro Bundle 220 Dog Tracking GPS Best Quality

At the end of (3) nine month seasons I have nothing but praise for the Astro 220 ad the 2 collars I use. I run two German shorthair pointers 3 months, 2-3 times weekly in fir/spruce forests (7K - 9K altitude) containing deep drainages, open meadows and plenty of time spent in ponds, lakes and creeks. They both love to work in heavy cover which loads the collar antenna interface with sticks and herbaceous stuff regularly - no failure yet. The amazing thing is I rarely lose a tracking signal and even then it is usually because the distance of the dog is over 450 yds. A "lie" you say. Well consider the other 6 months I hunt them in the field (wild and pen raised birds) usually covering 1000 acres of mixed grain, sagebrush, CRP, and various Great Basin shrubbery. The male is a ranger and can lock up 2-300 yds away and hold or carefully relocate while I eat lunch and read the paper knowing the Astro will take me to him without fail. I rarely have to use his beeper. I most often get a "treed" reading which I can verify by checking his track. Wild birds in later season tend to not hold for long so both dogs will relocate when I signal them that I'm near. The only thing that the Astro doesn't do is flush the bird. I don't let my pointers flush either so I'm working on getting a short haired flusher to do the work that won't bring home a mat of burrs. IN SUMMARY: I don't hunt birds, that's my dogs' job - I hunt dogs.
The Astro 220 package has really made my job easy.
