PC Miler PCM430 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Truck Navigator Decide Now

I bought this right when it came out in december 08 while with my trainer. I used it for my first solo trip and then the next 11 months after. It just stoped working last week. The low battery warning came on even tho the unit was plugged in. It powered off and now will not turn back on. Just replaced with a garmin 205 (99$ at walmart) that so far is impressing me. The garmin is nice because when looking at the directions it will tell you the exit numbers you will be taking to compare them to directions you get on qualcomm. The PC miler did not do this, also the pcmiler would freeze up and worst of all the maps weren't accurate. Many times it would show the ramp to change highways on the right when it would be on the left, or tell me to take 495 when it was really 95 it wanted me to take. The worst was a run to brooklyn I did..This thing got so damn confussed the route it gave basically went in circles all over, so I shut the navigation off and just looked at the map to figure it out on my own.
Besides those problems which are bad enough there were many other things I don't really care to remember. Two that stand out right away..with the copilot you have to manually pick the time zone you are in.. they list like 80 time zones and you have to scroll threw them all. Every time the battery dies you have to do this. Another is everytime you want to dim or brighten the screen you have to exit the whole navigation program. Then go back to it and reprogram your route after. The garmin automatically knows what time zone you are in at all times so you dont have to do anything. Also it has an automatic mode for the screen brightness. It will dim the screen slightly at dusk and then dim it all the way when the sun goes down. All this while still navigating I pretty much give up on truck specific GPS systems, Just buy a cheap garmin for cars and cross reference with your atlas while you use it. If the garmin puts you on a parkway or something just add a waypoint or two until it keeps you on the roads you want to be on. Garmin StreetPilot c340 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Right now

I was given one of these at work, and have used it extensively for months traveling all over the state (including both highways and backroads). It's old, but one of the best of its time. Reception has always been great (except when driving inside in a tunnel, of course). It has been extremely helpful and indispensable. The interface is easy to manipulate, and finding points of interest is just as intuitive (POIs are sorted by distance).

The only complaint would be its lack of text to speech, but that's to be expected considering its age. I know there are better GPS navigators out there, but this was my first. :) I'm giving it 5 stars, because it never failed me.Get more detail about Garmin StreetPilot c340 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator.

Discount TomTom GO 630 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)

I read several reviews on buying refurbished TomTom's. Some said you get a coupon included for a free update and others said that they just called TomTom and they reluctantly allowed them to get the most current map update. I bought a refurbished one as a gift for my sister because I loved my TomTom GPS.

Beware! The refurb unit did not come with a coupon code and when I called TomTom they absolutely would not give me an update. I even talked to the main supervisor and even when I explained that I loved my TomTom and recommended their GPS unit to everyone, he would not budge. I even sent him a webpage from "[...]" which said that every refurbished unit comes with a coupon code for a free update. He said that website is not affiliated with TomTom and they are not responsible for their misinformation. He said he could not make an exception, even as a matter of good customer relations.

Bottom line is that TomTom offers a very good GPS product that I would still recommend to anyone. Just beware of buying a refurb. The unit worked and looked new but if having the most current map update is important, be prepared to spend the $80 or so to get it. Also, hopefully you will not need to count on TomTom to do the right thing if you need customer service.Get more detail about TomTom GO 630 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished).

Cheapest Magellan Maestro 4370 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)

Well, I've used a few GPS's now, and this one is best remembered as a great 2nd rear view mirror. The picture is quite good, unless the sun is out and shining into your car, then the picture is GONE! You can see your rear seat passengers pretty good though, so that is a plus.

Actually, the units works well, but you can't see it.

Too bad.Get more detail about Magellan Maestro 4370 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished).

Cheap Garmin nüvi 200W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

I bought this GPS for my always-lost girlfriend, and so far it has been a big disappointment. It is easy enough to use, and it helps her get to her destination when it works. The problem is that it takes forever to find the satellites and sometimes never does. It's so bad, that she usually doesn't bother to use it, making it useless.

I regret not returning the unit.

Buy Holux M-1000C Bluetooth GPS Data Logger Travel Recorder (Bluetooth, USB , 66CH, WAAS, 200k Waypoints, M1000c)

I bought the Holux M-1000c with the purpose of geotagging my photos. The software was really easy to use, and the time synchronization worked great. The instruction manual says that you need a special mini-USB cable in order to communicate via USB, but a standard mini-USB cable worked fine for me to download the data and configure the device.

I've also used the device in my car, and the it works great there as well. Get more detail about Holux M-1000C Bluetooth GPS Data Logger Travel Recorder (Bluetooth, USB , 66CH, WAAS, 200k Waypoints, M1000c).

Purchase Magellan Maestro 4040 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

This is much better than the Garmin Nuvi. Once you power it on it only takes a second to be ready and recognize your position. The Nuvi would take minutes sometimes. The navigation is excellent as well. When there is an immediate turn after another the first it show you both in advance. This is really helpful!Get more detail about Magellan Maestro 4040 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator.
